Los Angeles - Actor Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects, Stigmata, End of Days) has signed on to narrate a documentary film called Flight from Death: The Quest for Immortality. The feature-length film about the psychological effects of fear of death and its relationship to human violence will be released later this year in select theatres, television, and home video. For more information about the film and to view the trailer go to http://www.flightfromdeath.com.
Byrne, who currently resides in New York City, flew to Los Angeles last February to meet producers, Greg Bennick and Patrick Shen and to record the narration. MR BYRNE can currently be seen in David Cronenberg's latest film, Spider (Ralph Fiennes, Miranda Richardson), an official selection at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and currently in limited release.
Flight from Death is the first film to investigate the psychological effects of death anxiety, or fear of death. This 90-minute documentary explores the effects death anxiety has on psychological, spiritual, and cultural realms. The film reveals convincingly that death denial is a root cause of human behavior and more importantly, violence and aggression.
The film is the culmination of four years of research and two years of filming all over the world in locations such as Egypt, Israel, Guyana, Greece, Afghanistan, Thailand and China. It features interviews with leading scholars, philosophers, researchers and authors such as Robert Jay Lifton, Irvin Yalom, Sam Keen and Sheldon Solomon culminating in the most comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and mind-blowing investigation of humankind's relationship with death ever captured on film.
