03.23.05 - DVD RELEASE: A successful 2-year run in the film festival circuit and 7 Best Documentary awards later, Flight from Death will soon be hitting store shelves nationwide! We are about two weeks away from finalizing the paperwork with our future distributor and will be announcing the official release date soon (August or September 2005). Expect another announcement soon with more details including information on pre-orders and DVD extras you can expect to see.

SEATTLE THEATRICAL PREMIERE: The film will be screening from May 27th - June 2nd (Friday through Thursday) at 7 & 9pm at the Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Ave at Pike St.) on Capitol Hill. ORANGE COUNTY PREMIERE: On April 22nd at 5pm, Flight from Death will make its Orange County premiere as a part of the Newport Beach Film Festival! Director/Co-producer, Patrick Shen will be present at this screening to meet all of you and to answer any questions. The film screens at 5pm at the Orange County Museum of Art. RUSS O'CAMPO: Our friend Russ O'Campo, the Vietnam veteran featured in FFD and father of Production Coordinator Joy O'Campo, has experienced a major setback in his battle against multiple sclerosis this week. Russ' family is in dire need of donations to pay for a full-time home health aid to care for him while his wife is away at work every day. ADAM WATTS: Good friend and FFD music contributor, Adam Watts, is unstoppable! Adam is no longer just a sought after drummer, producer and songwriter (Billboard Top 20 hit "Beautiful Soul"), he is a chart-topping solo artist! DVD EXTRAS TEASER: 30 years ago, Sam Keen, then a writer for Psychology Today, interviewed Ernest Becker on his death bed at Simon Fraser Hospital. Check out this sample clip in which Sam Keen talks about one of the most significant moments of his life in this never-before-seen deleted scene! 10.05.04 - Flight from Death has picked up 3 more Best Documentary awards bringing the total to 6! At the Rhode Island International Film Festival, FFD picked up the Grand Prize Best Documentary Award beating out such docs as People Say I'm Crazy (picked up by Cinemax). More recently at the Malibu International and Northern Lights Documentary Film Festivals, after having screened to packed theatres, FFD picked up two Audience Choice awards. Lastly, additional screenings have been added so be sure to check out the screenings page for showtimes and locations.


07.17.04 - See Flight from Death at the Rhode Island International Film Festival on August 14th! Over 18,000 attended last year's festival making it the largest festival in New England. The festival takes place August 10-15th in the historic cities of Newport and Providence as well as satellite locations throughout the state. FFD will be screening at the University of Rhode Island - Feinstein Providence Campus on August 14th at 2:15pm. For more information click here.

07.15.04 - We have been besieged with emails regarding the DVD release of Flight from Death. After spending more than a year on the festival circuit, FFD has managed to attract the attention of a wide variety of distributors. The filmmakers have spent the last several months fielding offers and have decided to decline all of them due to fears that the film would not receive the attention it deserves. In the coming months, expect additional announcements regarding a possible DVD release under the distribution arm of Transcendental Media. Thanks for your patience!

03.01.04 - Over 450 people attended the University of Washington screening entitled "Thoughts For the Times on War, Death, and Leadership" on February 28th 2004. The double feature of Flight From Death and a lecture by Sheldon Solomon drew not only a full house, but also some amazing press coverage from The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

07.11.03 - The Hawaii publicity whirlwind pays off. After making stops at Hawaii Public Radio and Hawaii's top-rated morning TV news show, Patrick & Greg screened Flight from Death to an enthusiastic crowd on June 15th at the Maui Arts & Culture Center as part of the Maui Film Festival. Comments from viewers poured in on the days following the screening, one writing "[Flight from Death] is absolutely the best movie I have ever seen on the subject. Clearly as good as last year's Bowling for Columbine."

05.15.03 - Flight from Death wins the prestigious Audience Choice Award for BEST DOCUMENTARY at the 2003 Beverly Hills Film Festival! FFD screened to a packed house on Saturday, May 10th at the Clarity Theatre in Beverly Hills and competed among 5 other documentaries for this coveted award. The BHFF received more than 2,000 entries this year from all around the world, selecting only 30 films total (See photos below). FFD has also been selected by the Dubrovnik International Film Festival to screen and compete later this month in Dubrovnik, Croatia.



04.24.03 - See FFD at the 2003 Beverly Hills Film Festival on Saturday, May 10th! Screening begins at 11:00am at the Clarity Theatre (100 N. Crescent Dr.) with a Q&A with Patrick & Greg to follow. This event will sell out! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.wantickets.com/bhff. Come support the film as it competes with 29 other shorts, features, and docs!

04.17.03 - There are only a few advance preview screenings left! Greg and Patrick will conclude their mini-tour of screenings at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada May 2 & 4. See photos below of Greg and Patrick speaking at various venues throughout the U.S.


02.19.03 - Gabriel Byrne (Usual Suspects, Enemy of the State, End of Days) signs on as narrator! The recording session took place at Mix Magic Post Sound in Hollywood, CA where Mr. Byrne was also kind enough to sit down for an on-camera interview for the Flight from Death behind-the-scenes featurette that is being produced for the DVD. The FFD crew was honored and privileged to work with such an amazing talent.


11.27.02 - An audience of roughly 100 people recently viewed the rough cut of Flight from Death at the Soho Salon in NYC. Thanks to Chad Gracia, president of the NY chapter of the Ernest Becker Foundation and all those who came for such a great evening! Among the crowd were a few stars of the film - Ron Leifer (an old friend of Ernest Becker's), Sheldon Solomon, and Sean Byrd who contributed several songs to the FFD soundtrack.

10.25.02 - Additional screening added in NY! The Soho Salon in New York will now be hosting two screenings on November 23rd, 2002 to accommodate the growing number of inquiries. They will take place at 5pm and 8pm. Tickets will be available online very soon at the Soho Salon's wesbite for a suggested donation of $10. These sneak previews are private screenings but if you are in the NY area and are eager to see the film let us know and we'll see if we can fit you in.

10.21.02 - Seattle sneak preview a success! Many thanks to Neil Elgee and the Ernest Becker Foundation for sponsoring this event at which a packed room gave this initial screening of the film a standing ovation! Greg and Patrick then spent the hour and half following the screening fielding questions and discussing the film with the audience. Thanks to all who attended this event and shared their wonderful comments. Many more screenings are in the works. Keep checking back here for more news and updates.

08.28.02 - Preview screenings have been scheduled in Seattle & New York! The first one takes place on October 20, 2002 during the Ernest Becker Foundation's 8th annual Love of Violence conference in Seattle, WA. Then FFD goes to NY on November 23, 2002 where a private preview screening and discussion with Greg & Patrick, sponsored by the NY chapter of the EBF, will be held at the Soho Salon.
